Overwhelm of achieving goals.

It's early February. Have you already given up on your new year's goals ? If you have don't feel bad about it. Plenty of people gave up the second week of the year. Consider yourself a step above those if you're still hanging on in this month of love.

Why folks fall off

Bottom line is some people did the opposite of going cold turkey. They filled their plate with goals. Lose weight, travel the world, get a pay raise, find love, buy a house. All worthy goals that can be achieved.  However you can't or should I say it's not wise to try to tackle all of them day one.

The moment you become serious about those goals the feeling of overwhelm begins to hit. You don't have a passport. You need to take a class to get that raise. Your credit score is in the tank. It can feel like a no win situation. Rather than take it on many of us will just say " it's too much". And back we go to our mundane mediocre quiet desperation lives.

You have a entire year to achieve your goals. No one said you have to scratch them all off by March. So what if you broke those goals down into bite size pieces.  For my example lets break it down by the week.  This week create one Big Hairy Audacious Goal as the image says. You want to travel the world ? This week go to the post office and get the pass port application. Next go a pharmacy that takes passport pictures. Then take it all back to the post office with your money of course. You're done.

You can realistically do this in one day. But hey give yourself a week. It will be a week of accomplishment. Something was done from your new years resolution/goals list.

Now you have the power to create another BHAG. Spend a day or two on your're going to pay down credit cards to help your credit score. Just don't allow the overwhelm of achieving goals knock you out the game before the end of the first quarter.
